My AI Bear Case

Recently I wrote a comment on HN that became my most-upvoted ever.

Nothing different is happening.

We're a few years in, all our tools have changed, there have been major changes in the way everyone talks and think about software. So where are the results? What is different when you go out and look around in the world?

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. And I'm not going to say 'yet', because its time has passed. It meant something a couple of years ago, but now the accepted knowledge is that it's in the rear-view mirror.

What is going on?

The city I live in has one of those shared bike schemes with the hubs. It's a great system, not terribly expensive, pretty reliable, very convenient and as such I've come to rely on it.

The other day I wake up and go to grab a bike as usual. First step is to open the app. Oh I've been logged out. Well, I know this happens occasionally with systems of this type. Maybe my token expired, whatever, I'll log back in. But the login fails. An error message reads 'Account suspended, contact customer services'
